Weight Loss Challenge – Days 20-25

Goal: To Lose 25 pounds in 30 days. No fad diets. No gimmicks. No surgery. Just solid nutrition and lots of exercise.

Welcome to DAYS 20-25 of my 30-day weight loss challenge. I arrived back late last evening from a short vacation to the mountains of Maine. On this expedition, I had very minimal cell reception, no WiFi, and to be honest, no real urge to connect to the internet anyhow. So, this post will be the recap for the past few days of the 30-day weight loss challenge (and it’s going to be a good one).

The 30-day weight loss challenge is winding down, and while I am in total amazement of my transformation thus far, I am afraid that I will not make my goal of losing 25 pounds in 30 days. I honestly expected to lose much more weight while I was on my vacation because of all of the hiking and my activity level. I’ll get into the nutrition and exercise below, but I can tell you that I was extremely active, averaging 3-4 hours of physical activity per day.

Days 20-25 Nutrition

There isn’t going to be a breakdown of meals here since I have five days to recount. What I can tell you is that I ate a shit ton of protein bars. Also, with the exception of one day that we did a vigorous, 9-mile hike, I continued my intermittent fasting and ate only between the hours of 1pm-9pm.

For the actual meals, I ate a good amount of eggs, salad, and chicken. Of course, tons of veggies on the salads and in the eggs. I stayed in a cabin with a small kitchen setup, so I was able to prepare some healthy and delicious meals. I ate mostly protein bars for snacks and energy during hikes. As you can see in the exercise section, I did an abundance of hiking. Maybe I ate a few too many protein bars that hindered my weight loss, but I needed lots of refueling for the long hikes.

DAY 21: 
Saddleback Mountain & Bald Mountain, ME / Distance: 5.9 Mi. / Elevation: 2,572 ft. / Time: 4 hr. + 43 mins. / Calories Burned: 2,863
DAY 22:
Blue Mountain, ME / Distance: 3.2 Mi. / Elevation: 1,785 ft. / Time: 2 hr. + 28 mins. / Calories Burned: 1,587
DAY 23:
Tumbledown Mountain & Little Jackson Mountain, ME / Distance: 9.1 Mi. / Elevation: 2,940 ft. / Time: 7 hr. + 41 mins. / Calories Burned: 4,402

DAY 24: I spent over eight hours of driving on DAY 24, so no exercise there.
DAY 25: Back to the real world in my home state of New Jersey. After a great night of sleep, I went for a three mile run today. Otherwise, I spent most of the day recovering.

In addition to all of the hiking, I did kayaking, swimming, and kept busy each evening on DAY 20, DAY 21, DAY 22, and DAY 23 with push-ups and crunches. It was probably the most active string of days I have had during this 30-day weight loss challenge.

Final Thoughts

I will admit that I feel discouraged today. I hoped for more abundant weight loss when I weighed in this morning. It is looking bleak for me to lose another 10 pounds in just four more days, but I will try my best. I will keep it super light tomorrow in terms of my diet. Lots of plain salads, lean protein, egg whites, and steamed vegetables.
